BOAT TRIP with dinner in Amalfi

We have arranged a full day out to make the most of the beautiful Amalfi Coast and we hope you will enjoy it! During the cruise, we will make sure you don’t get thirsty and we will provide you with your favourite drinks (prosecco, wine, beers and soft drinks). We will stop in two towns, Positano and then Amalfi where we will have dinner in a typical pizzeria. Then we will sail back to Vietri sul Mare enjoying a sightsee of the coast by night. Please keep reading to find out times, itinerary and what you need to bring for the day.

Timetable and itinerary:

10:00 – Vietri sul Mare, the hidden gem of the Amalfi Coast
If you fancy a stroll around Vietri sul Mare, we recommend to get in town at around 10am so you have a bit of time to walk through the picturesque pathways and visit the shops with the typical ceramics which the town is famous for. We will also stop at a bakery located by the marina where they can make fresh panini to take with us on the boat for lunch.

11:30 – Meet at the marina to get ready to board.

12:00 – Depart and navigate along the Amalfi Coast.

14:00 – Arrival in Positano.
We will spend a couple of hours in Positano to visit the town. There are lovely boutiques (the town is famous for its handmade sandals), cafes and you might want to spend some time at the beach or go for a swim.

16:00 – Meet at the boat and depart for Amalfi.

16:45 – Arrival in Amalfi
We will have some time to explore the town before going for dinner. We recommend to visit the Duomo di Amalfi (Amalfi Cathedral), a medieval Roman Catholic cathedral which dominates the main piazza from the top of the high steps. It is dedicated to the Apostle Saint Andrew whose relics are kept here. In Italy, there is a dress code for visiting churches which requires a ‘decorous attire’ to enter the church. No bare shoulders and women should not wear shorts. Please bring something to cover your shoulders and knees if you are planning to visit the Duomo (you will probably find useful to have something to cover anyway for the return journey on the boat in the evening).

19:00 – Dinner in Amalfi.
We have made a booking at the restaurant Pizzeria il Teatro. You can find the venue at the following address:
Ristorante Pizzeria Il Teatro
Via Ercolano Marini, 19/21 – Amalfi

Make sure you don’t get lost in the many small hidden alleys which form a maze of streets and passageways. Our table is booked for 19:00.

21:15 – Depart to head back to Vietri

22:00 – Arrive in Vietri

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE DAY
Swimming costume, hat, sun cream (the sun will be strong, please don’t burn the day before the wedding!), something warm for the evening on the boat. You might wish to bring a change for the dinner although a casual dress code is perfectly fine. If you wish to visit the cathedral, you need something to cover your shoulders and knees. Drinks for the day will be provided.

There are toilets on the boat.

Sunday 2nd July

DAYTIME
We have now decided to spend the day by the beach (as not many of you were interested with the lunch by the hotel pool). Everyone is welcome to join us!

DINNER

BBQ at Agriturismo Il Cavaliere dei Conti (farmhouse)

Sunday evening is our last dinner together and we have arranged a typical Italian BBQ (different from the classic chicken and burgers!) in a traditional agriturismo only a 15-minute walk from our hotel. Everything they serve is produced in house and we will have our BBQ in a patio surrounded by lemon trees overlooking the Amalfi Coast.

Menu: buffet of starters, different types of meat and dessert. Drinks include mineral water, coke and unlimited red wine produced by them.

We have requested special meals for people with dietary requirements.

Dinner starts at 19:30.

Dress code: casual

Venue
Agriturismo Il Cavaliere deli Conti
Via Capodimuro – Albori
Table booked for 19:30

Monday 3th July

POMPEI

For those of you that are able to join us, the cost for the entrance tickets is €19 per adult and these can be bought on line. If you can please buy your ticket in advance, this will avoid to have to queue on the day. Children under 18 enter for free but their ticket can not be bought in advance but only on the day (proof of age will be requested).

The best way to visit Pompei is with a guided tour. Audio guides can be hired on the day for €8 (or online although it will cost an extra €10) and you will be walking on the site listening a recorded spoken commentary. However, the reviews for this service are not great (long queue to get your device, it doesn’t synchronise reliable with where you are, flat batteries on the device). Therefore, we have opted for a guide that we will physically take us around the site and give us all the information (in English).

The cost for the guide is £15 per person and we need to book this service in advance.

Timetable for the day

12:15 :  taxi pick up from Hotel Raito
13:00 : arrival in Pompei
13:30-15:30 : 2 hour tour with the guide
15:30-17:00 : refreshment / lunch at the Hortus bar and snack restaurant inside the site http://www.pompei-hortus.it/en/
17:00 : taxi pick up for the airport

The cost for the taxi from Vietri to Pompei and from Pompei to the airport is €60 each journey per car/approximately €15 per person per journey  (€30 in total)  as we will be sharing the transport.

Please buy your entrance ticket for Pompei following the below link. It will take you directly to the page where to buy your ticket for the 3rd July (ignore the time as tickets can be used at any time for the date purchased).

https://www.ticketone.it/en/event/parco-archeologico-di-pompei-scavi-di-pompei-17106222/

We have booked a table at the Hortus restaurant in advance as it gets very busy.

For the guide we will collect the money in advance and we will then pay the guide on the day. Cost is £15. Please pay by bank transfer to the same HSBC account that was used before.

What you need for the day
Water, sun tan cream, hat and comfy shoes. There is no shade and it will be hot at lunch time.
We recommend to have some euros in cash to pay for taxis.
